THE BELFAST DOCK STRIKE OF 1907

The Belfast dock strike of 1907 was led by JIM LARKIN socialist hero, this was his first significent impact on Irish life.
He is seated third from left, with other leaders of the labour movement in Queens square Belfast

Was a long time campaigner, for land socialism
and people owning the land not the State.Davitt was a supporter of land nationalisation

JAMES CONNOLLY
JAMES CONNOLLY was a leader of the Irish socialist movement. Born of A British army father and Irish mother he became active in socialism in Edinburgh.
Connolly fought on a number of issues for the ordinary person such as social reform and an end to tenement housing, which in Dublin at the time were of the worst conditions in all of Northern Europe
THE IRISH WOMENS WORKER UNION 1913
This picture was taken by the IRISH WOMEN WORKERS' UNION in 1913. These Women campaigned for womens rightss in the post victorian era that was the beginning of the 20th Century
THE GREAT DUBLIN LOCKOUT OF 1913
The Workers of Ireland rose up against their terrible working conditions led by JIM LARKIN and the SOCIALIST MOVEMENT. This picture was taken in Dublins Sackville Street (O'Connell street) It was the most climatic moment in Irish labour history.

Two people died and several people were injured due to the heavy hand of the then Police, the Royal Irish Constabulary and the Dublin Metropolitian Police
JIM LARKIN IN DISGUISE IS ARRESTED BY THE DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE (DMP)
In a brillent coup, Larkin defied a ban on a public meeting he had planned for Sunday Augest 1913. Not only did he appear in disguise but he did so from the balcony of the Imperial Hotel, which was owned by the employers' leader William Martin Murphy. Here Larkin is being taken away from the scene by the D.M.P
